2 year old funding information for parents

If you have a two year old child you may be eligible for a free early education place of up to 15 hours per week
over the 38 weeks of the year (term time only).


Financial Criteria
Your 2 year old can get free childcare if you live in England and get one of the following:
Income Support
Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
Income related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
Universal Credit – if you and your partner have a combined income from work of less than £15,400 a year after tax
Tax credits and you have an annual income of under £16,190 before tax
The guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
Support through part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act
The Working Tax Credit 4-week run on (the payment you get when you stop qualifying for Working
Tax Credit)
A child can also get free early education and childcare if any of the following apply:
They’re looked after by a local council
They have a current statement of special education needs (SEN) or an education, health and care
(EHC) plan
They get Disability Living Allowance
They’ve left care under a special guardianship order, child arrangement order of adoption order


When does funding start
Funding starts the term following your child’s second birthday and applications can be submitted up to 12
weeks before the start of the relevant term
 A child born between 1 st April and 31 st August can access childcare from 1 st September (can apply from
9 th June)
 A child born between 1 st September and 31 st December can access childcare from 1 st January (can
apply from 9 th October)
 A child born between 1 st January and 31 st March can access childcare from 1 st April (can apply from 7 th
January)

Pensilva Pre-school
We can take children from the age of 2.5 years. If you are entitled to funding then we will ask you to complete
a funding form which will need to include the details of your funding code. If you are not entitled to funding
we can still offer your child a place and will then invoice you for the hours attended and the rate if force at the
time.
